Here are the July 4th food rules for my house, a gathering that consists of me and my dog as the only guests:

bratwurst > hotdog, and both can be flexible in terms of toppings; hotdogs = good sometimes

thin cheeseburger my way ONLY; inflexible with toppings > than your janky thick burger that you keep piling with shit

Chicago hotdogs or brats > NYC hotdogs or brats, but NYC pizza hands down even though pizza's not a traditional 4th food

I'm making beef ginger scallion noodles for the 4th so kiss my ass.
